No 5. located in one of Adelaide’s most sought after coastal suburbs saw an old, tired but loved productive hobby garden transformed into a modern, minimal entertainers delight. The owners of the property had a modest budget however did not want to compromise on quality of materials or workmanship. The brief was to create an engaging space that invites the user in and carries both a sense of grand scale and a cosy feeling, all within a standard suburban back yard.
The oversized Cypress Pine timber arbor creates an epic focal point for the garden, and the change of levels through corten steel garden beds with a singular, curved planter and Ginkgo feature tree allowed a textural mix of hardy planting to shine and soften the sharp hardscape detailing. The soft timber tones of the arbor and floating bench seat contrast with the rustic finish of the sleepers, edging steel and fire bowl to create a relaxed and refined coastal space.
